Sab Rang (All Colours) is an exciting exhibition by three Yorkshire women artists who explore their South Asian culture through art. Akari Maharani, Zareena Bano and Humaira Minhas explore the themes of heritage, history, calligraphy and mehndi with their contemporary art works.
Artists in Business, in partnership with Kala Sangam, is hosting this exhibition at Central Hall in Keighley. It is Artists in Business' remit to support emerging and contemporary artists, designer makers and creatives through exhibitions, handmade fairs, seminars and workshops. Despite the fact that Keighley has a large population of British Asian residents there is no exhibition celebrating the rich cultural heritage of South Asia. All three artists re-examine the traditional arts and skills of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh from miniature Moghul painting to calligraphy, from the complex patterns of mehndi to contemporary wall art. all three artists share a love of rich colour and their work positively sings with rich metals, bright opaque pigments and delicate shades. And yet, each artist has her own recognisable style, making for a collection of work that complements and contrasts.
Sab Rang will be showing at Café Central, Central Hall, Alice Street, Keighley BD21 3JD from Monday 11th June to Friday 13th July (Opening times: Mon -Fri 8.30am to 4pm Sat 9am - 2pm) ENTRANCE FREE
