the contemporary ‘retro’ prints that we see in today’s markets are sure to have been influenced in one way or another by designers of the past, we surely have some very talented ladies to thank…
as part of this mother's day weekend, mum and I made a visit to the current exhibition at the london fashion and textile museum http://www.ftmlondon.org/. ‘Designing Women’ celebrates the works of the three women who led the way to transforming our interiors during the drab war days into something a little more colourful and positively inspirational. The exhibition shows the beautiful work of lucienne day, jacqueline groag and marian mahler. my favourite pieces are from lucienne day, one being the very recognisable 'calyx' print shown below in the two colour ways and also 'two many cooks' in red - i want a tea towel of this to frame and put in my kitchen!
on from 16th march-16thjune - i highly recommend a visit!
