Preparing for 2013
So Christmas is over and it's the lull before The New Year when we spend our time racing to the sales or sitting in front of the television eating yet more chocolate - well, that's what happens in our house!…

Hello fellow crafters!
Hello!
I'm busy organising my UK Handmade page at the moment, being a newbie to this wonderful site. I've met some lovely people already but would love to meet some more. I've recently set up my own blog, facebook page and etsy store (links below), all of which are feeling a bit lonely. Please pop along and say hello and follow me. I am always more than happy to support fellow crafters and artists and therefore am happy to reciprocate any follows and/or…

Scary but very exciting
Hi

I suppose the scary bit will be on the day waiting for customers to turn up. Its going to be advertised all over the internet, on every crafting site I can find and also locally like radio, newspapers, schools, lamposts :-) I'm trying my hardest to make it different and fun for all…

Milestone wheat beer kit
Anyway the Milestone kit is quite a bit different to my first go at brewing, this one comes with the usual two cans of wort and packet of yeast but also 'raspberry flavour'. This gets added to the beer once it's syphoned off into the pressure barrel.

Potting plants

For the last three years I've been trying to grow tomatoes, its probably the plant that every gardener tries to grow at some point. This 'easy' plant has been causing me a lot of problems; from blight to moulds and just not planting them out early enough.

Tardiness in posting
Apologies for being away from this page for far too long. All parents have kept us running around hospitals and hospices this past year and indeed we lost one parent last November.
Technology updates at parents houses has meant I can keep in touch while away on parent duties and less catching up for me each time I am at home. This…

Hi, I've quite ridiculously got butterflies (or flutter-by's as my 3 year old daughter calls them) typing this as not only have I only just set up my blog Grace's Favours (as in, there's only 2 posts on there!) I've also not got involved in the UK Handmade forums before and in fact, if I'm being completely honest, I've only been designing and making things since August 2011!
So I suppose what I'm trying to…

The Legendary Celtic Knot
Celtic knot work is perhaps the most widely recognisable art from early times. Despite extensive study, the Celts remain one of the most illusive and unknowable of ancient cultures. This stems largely from the fact that the Celts appear to have relied extensively on an oral tradition for the passing on of knowledge and skills. Though it is without doubt that they were an educated people,…

Product Photography
Before I decided to focus on my photography I made things. Lots of gorgeous things. I realised how important the photography was. It's no good having gorgeous products and then have photographs that don't show your work off to it's best. If you wander through Etsy.com there are some awful examples of product photography and then some gorgeous ones. Gorgeous ones make a product shine. They end up on …
