INTRODUCING MYSELF

Dear All

I have just joined.  I make cross stitch cards, lavender bags and bigger pictures.

I went on a Christmas Craft course for 4 weeks and learnt how to make Christmas Crackers.  I  also made A Christmas Tree and a house.  I intent to make Christmas Crackers next year.  If anyone would like a lavender bag, I will happily make one for you.

I have a diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome.

Margins For Error

The other day I built some bookcases for a client. Originally there were meant to be five but the client's husband didn't like that idea, so one was discarded and the remaining units made deeper.  Now, I know what I should have done was inform my client that the costs would be the same when I had completed the revised drawings, but I didn't. So, it wasn't exactly a surprise to me when she queried the invoice, wondering why it…

A Promotion I Didn't Want

I'd spent the week trying finish a kitchen refurbishment. After a month of delays (not caused by me) and accidents (all my own fault) the kitchen is nearly complete. I think I like kitchens. I think great here's a job I can get my teeth stuck into. Good money...WRONG. I think I'm just doing the carpentry work pure and simple. Everybody else thinks I'm the designer, project manager and general if its gone wrong talk to that…

Virtual Office for Craft Businesses

Hi All

Does anyone who runs their craft business from home, use a virtual office?

I would like to use one, but all the ones i have come across are based in large towns/cities, whereas i am a rural based business.

Does anyone have any advice/knowledge/links etc that would be useful/helpful :).

A Productive Day

I have done all my shows and craft markets so I decided I would list the remainder of my stock on Etsy over the next couple of days.  I know all the advice says to drip feed Etsy daily but I never manage to do that, it all fizzles out too quickly.  So, I decided I would sit for marathon photo sessions, editing and listing sessions.  Take a look at www.bluekilnbeads.etsy.com.  Thanks!

BEWARE OF THE EXTRA TAXES AT CUSTOMS ON INTERNATIONAL PARCELS!!!

Three weeks into the S/S Collection…….

I ordered some fabric from the USA…..guess that means I’m a real designer?  Lol, oh I’m too funny sometimes. No but really I did. I spotted the print on an Etsy sellers shop and fell completely in love.  I did surf the Internet looking for a UK stockist, to no avail. Whilst I was doing that, I spotted another fantastic print, and yes again…. I fell in love. Its true what they say. When waiting for hours for one bus, two always…

cafe latte!

Cafe collection

I've wanted to add something just a little chic to the shop for a while now. Something for those days when unexpected guests arrive for coffee, cake and gossip. The cafe collection has more formal feel than anything I've created before with it's short round cappuccino cups, espresso cups and tall latte mugs.

Why did you decide to start a business???

Why did you decide to start a business???

This question was recently posed to me, and it forced me to stop and think. Sometimes I get so lost in day to day life that I forget the purpose behind why I am doing something, I think we can all be a little guilty of this, we can get so absorbed with the goal or destination we often…
