Targets

I have been going around in a daze for a few days now lamenting the fact that I'm not selling as much as I would like to.  The only person who can turn it around is me, so I've had a strong word with myself and set myself a target to get my Etsy shop stocked.  You can read the full story at www.bluekilnbeads.blogspot.com. I figured that if I tell enough people about it I'll have to stick to it!

The Leach Pottery, St Ives

I at the Leach Pottery for four days to do some throwing and learn some new techniques. It was great to meet the Leach Pottery gang - Peter, Ella, Gordon, Kat and Midori.

It was really quite an inspiring trip for me that's made me realise perhaps my throwing isn't so bad! Probably the best thing I took away from the tuition was how to make plates.

Apples and Pears

Apples and Pears

Over the years Liam has made many beautiful pieces but I particularly like his solid glass pears and apples.  These are lovely art forms and capture ones need to look and touch.  It is quite a pleasure to feel the weight as they are solid glass pieces with a soft velvet…

competition

I haven't been around any of this for very long but I have definately noticed how many jewellery shops are around.!! At first I thought I would be the one with the most competition ( knitting/crochet etc) but I think people trying to sell jewelery have it just as hard. There are some beautiful items out there and if I was looking for a piece I would be spoilt for choice!! So all you clever ladies who make jewelery, how do you cope and do you have any tips for me please?

Designer makers popping up in Cornwall

Hello

I'm new to UK Handmade but think it's a great site and magazine.  As pop-ups are mentioned on both here's something to keep the theme going!  I run Craftpoint, based in Cornwall, and I'm on a mission to promote and sell the fabulous work of local designer makers, whilst making it more accessible to all by being in high street type locations.  The Christmas pop-up was held at The Poly in Falmouth and enjoyed by all - take a peek below.  It's a bit Christmassy for this lovely…
