Hi Karen, just got your comment, so sorry to reply so late, I'd shut Wonderlemon down for a while to go travelling and then have eye surgery and now it's May already!

Oh I know where it is now. There are lots of smaller stands down there, so a good mix of products. Hall D is in the conference centre - a bit on a limb but I've always been up there and it's been good. Yes, I've done this show for maybe 8 years or more - it's not as good as it used to be, but that's the same for all the shows nowadays.
I'd say, stay calm, especially for the build up day which can be quite manic - you're quite local aren't you, so should be able to get there early, or even set up on the Friday which would be a lot easier.
A lot of Scottish buyers come to this show (those that think Birmingham is too far) so you may want to mail out to anyone you know up there, or in the north of England.
It's much more "gift" orientated, with a lot of imports, so not everyone is looking for beautiful handmade in the UK type stuff. But some are. You might want to make sure that everyone can see that it's handmade, unique etc.
Good luck and feel free to ask all you need.

Which hall is E48 in and what's the business name? I'll look you up in the book.

So glad the show went well - what a great boost for your confidence. I shall be at Home and Gift, so we can meet up. I'm on stand D39A.
Keep busy until then

Hi Karen, thanks for the welcome. Yorkshire is such a huge place isn't it. I'm way up in the top North Eastern corner near Middlesbrough but still within the North Yorks boundary ;)
Nice to meet the face behind Blueberry Park. I've browsed your Folksy shop a few times!

Hi Karen.

I've not checked in to UK handmade for a while (other things on my mind), but I hope that BCTF has been good for you.

I launched there way back in the dark ages of 1998 and did the show for quite a number of years. What I would now encourage you to do is to make sure you contact everyone who's details you took. We're usually so busy fulfilling the orders that by the time we follow up it's usually a bit too late. Nowadays I send out an enewsletter just to remind them of my work.

Let us all know how you got on

Helloo,

Do you mean the stand itself? Keep the same number? I always mean to but it hs to vary depending on the work i want to show. I liked my stand last year. It was 2.5M x 1M but this year i want to take my wall panels so I needed 3M x 1.5 so I've had to change isle. It does mean that you get to meet a new buch of makers each year!
The olny other trade show I've done was Pulse last June. It was okay but cost me a fortune. I was hoping for some London stockists but I don't think I even TLKED to any.It wasn't as good as bctf. Not doing it this year. It was SUCH a big deal. Earls Court was hard work. Ouch!

You've got the added bonus being there as a maker having been there as a buyer. You, like me, can see the whole thing from both sides. That' a good thing!

Trade Fairs

Hi all. Happy New Year to one and all.
I've decided that I am going to take my Take-Away craft Kits to BCTF (British Craft Trade Fair) in APril. This is way out of my comfort zone, but I've made the decision so have to see it throug. Only trouble is I have never done a trade show before and unlike doing craft fairs, where you can make mistakes and learn from it, doing a Trade Fair is so much a bigger investmant that any mistakes are costly. If anybody out there has done a trade fair before and h… Continue

Thank you

Thank you all for your good wishes for today. Today has been a very mixed day. Firstly, there was the disappointment that my product didn't appear on This Morning. In fact none of them did! Something different to what was advertised was on. But instead, I heard from Trend Bible. Back int he new year I was approached to feature in the new Kids Lifestyle Trends 2010 trend forcasting book. I never heard anything from them again. Until today. When apparently I have a product in. I'd never heard of t… Continue

This Morning ITV1

I have the exciting prospect of possibly having an item featured on This Morning on Thursday 27 Nov from 10.30am.

At some point in the morning, they are having a feature on credit crunch alternatives to the Top 10 children's toys this weekend. My Flower Brooch Kits have been called up for the event.

Fingers crossed they will make an appearance.

If you can manage to see the show please let me know!
