I'd say, stay calm, especially for the build up day which can be quite manic - you're quite local aren't you, so should be able to get there early, or even set up on the Friday which would be a lot easier.
A lot of Scottish buyers come to this show (those that think Birmingham is too far) so you may want to mail out to anyone you know up there, or in the north of England.
It's much more "gift" orientated, with a lot of imports, so not everyone is looking for beautiful handmade in the UK type stuff. But some are. You might want to make sure that everyone can see that it's handmade, unique etc.
Good luck and feel free to ask all you need.
Penny
Keep busy until then

Nice to meet the face behind Blueberry Park. I've browsed your Folksy shop a few times!
I've not checked in to UK handmade for a while (other things on my mind), but I hope that BCTF has been good for you.
I launched there way back in the dark ages of 1998 and did the show for quite a number of years. What I would now encourage you to do is to make sure you contact everyone who's details you took. We're usually so busy fulfilling the orders that by the time we follow up it's usually a bit too late. Nowadays I send out an enewsletter just to remind them of my work.
Let us all know how you got on
Penny
yeslets chat about it at bctf.
Hope you're ready!
good luck with set up. what stand are you on?
Hannah x
Do you mean the stand itself? Keep the same number? I always mean to but it hs to vary depending on the work i want to show. I liked my stand last year. It was 2.5M x 1M but this year i want to take my wall panels so I needed 3M x 1.5 so I've had to change isle. It does mean that you get to meet a new buch of makers each year!
The olny other trade show I've done was Pulse last June. It was okay but cost me a fortune. I was hoping for some London stockists but I don't think I even TLKED to any.It wasn't as good as bctf. Not doing it this year. It was SUCH a big deal. Earls Court was hard work. Ouch!
You've got the added bonus being there as a maker having been there as a buyer. You, like me, can see the whole thing from both sides. That' a good thing!
Yes i remember you. i introduced myself the day joined the forum but i think i wrote it in the wrong place as i din't really know what i was doing! so hello again!
I know a few people doing it. Sue Candy..you know her don't you? Cathy Edwards leather bags. Sam Peare embroidered bags....erm Kate Rhodes jewellery. I'm sure there are more.
Good that you can go home. Yes you need to be sure that there is someone there to pamper you!!!!
