Comment by Callie Carling on March 20, 2012 at 17:59 Hi all *wave*
I live in West Wimbledon, which is sitting right on the borders of SW London & Surrey (I think our home is about 0.5 miles from the Surrey border!) so wondered whether I would be able to join the friendly Surrey artisans?!
I like to repurpose fabrics into all things bright and colourful - currently working on making my own heirloom bedspread, but lots of ideas bubbling away. I also made lots of fabric brooches etc. while I was undergoing chemotherapy recently (originally to jazz up my plain jersey hats!), which have been very well-received!

I've just read the note from Julia about charities to support: Can I mention three here which I've been invovled with locally? One - Cherry Trees - based in East Clandon it is a small charity which offers respite care for children with mental or physical disabilities. Two - The GRange in Bookham. Helping mentally and physically disabled adults doesn't necessarily come top of everyone's list but this little organisation is very relevant as the people they help actually do a lot to support themselves. Some work in the gardens raising and selling plants, loads more work in the handicraft workshop producing gifts and making all sorts of thing from curtains to theatre costumes to order. Three - The Fountain Centre based behind the Royal Surrey County Hospital, offers counselling, help and support to anyone in the catchment area undergoing treatment for cancer and their supporters. They were a tremendous support to me when I went through the mill in 2009 and I try to help when I can. Anyway, hopefully food for thought?
