Hello, im a Mid Devon lass, i do felt sculptures, and if anything is going on which would accept my stuff, please let me know.  I also make kits with instructions, for others to learn and i sell these and a few supplies. Not sure if my stuff is "craft fair" material though? :(

Hi, Graham, wish I could say I'm interested, but I'm still learning to drive, the disadvantage of being 40 years older than most learners! Once I'm mobile, look out.

Hi Graham

thanks for the below. Unable to make it myself but maybe some of this group might be interested or if not perhaps pass it on to anyone they know who might.

best wishes Lisa

YES!  my new seafront gallery in Exmouth is happening.  LOOKart.  Want to sell anything.  Here's the artists guide (or see LOOKart on facebook)

Brief guide for ‘LOOKart’ artists We try to offer reasonably priced options and opportunities for artists. We believe our options provide a service and a context that on-line and ‘craft fair’ sales cannot match. Themes and materials: We are particularly looking for good quality, well presented, items we’ve not seen before, which ideally combine a couple of the following elements: • Bright mode...
rn or unusual prints paintings and photos • Local relevance • Wood, stone, glass other natural materials, or ceramics • Art aimed at children • Costs less than £70 (with any commission where appropriate) Options   Obviously the gallery is a commercial enterprise with basic costs to cover through sales and other income, therefore (as with all selling galleries) the charges to artists must reflect this.  But yiu can choose: • Pay to display. A modest up-front cost to artists, but keeps sales price of pieces lower. A bit like having your own shop window. Artists will pay a fixed fee for each week (or part thereof) that their work is displayed. All pieces must be in keeping with our selection criteria, themes and materials. Fees will be according to ‘footprint’ of the shop’s display space that is used. In calculating the space to be used it will be assumed that each piece will have a minimum 10cm gap on all sides for effective display. The minimum space per piece will be 30 x30 cm (approx a square foot) for 50p per week. For large wall hanging pieces a reduced rate of £3.50 per sq metre per week is available. If any piece is sold a 10% administration and packing charge will be levied, to a maximum of £10  OR • Sales on 40% commission. This of course keeps ‘up front’ costs to the artist down but adds to the selling price of pieces. Each piece must be given to the gallery for exclusive sale for an agreed period (no less than 1 month, no more than 3). During this period the artist may not also advertise and sell that work privately. Before any piece is displayed it will be put to our selection panel as to its likely saleability. If the artwork is displayed and sold then the gallery will take its 40% commission from the agreed selling price. The artist will normally not be permitted to remove the work during the exclusive sale period. OR • Advertising space. Like the cards in newsagents windows, local artists and craftspeople are welcome to advertise their practice, or individual pieces of work on a card no bigger than an A6 postcard for 50p per week in our window.

Hi Naomi and Natalie - welcome to the group! :-)

Have you discovered the Craft Hub in Exeter yet?

If you are in Exeter for the Cathedral on the Green Festival around 22nd Exeter (or thereabouts) please do come and say hello.

Hi there, we're new to UK Handmade, and pleased to discover a group dedicated to Devon. We're two young Mums who design, make and sell toddler clothing produced in our Exeter based workshop www.oliveandvince.co.uk

We'll be keeping an eye out for ways to get involved,

Nat & Naomi

Thanks Lisa x Ive emailed a few agricultural shows already so fingers crossed.  Like you say, its meeting fellow crafters that gets you all the inside knowledge & I met some great people on Sunday who gave me lots of good advice. Do you post all your events on this page at all? Sarah x

Hi Sarah

try the national trust properties in your area and see if they are holding any fairs. Once you get into a few good quality ones then fellow crafters will make suggestions and its just about trying them and seeing which works for you. The craft tents at some agricultural shows can also be worth a look at, so google agricultural shows and get on the email/phone to see if there are any spaces left for this year. I hope that helps a bit! Lisa x
