Hello
I'm new to this site and I make handbags and brooches from recycled and vintage materials. I have an etsy shop . Love to hear from others using eco materials.

Hiya! I make jewellery from mostly recycled old bits and bobs, anything broken etc. I rifle through charity shops and people give me old jewellery, which I break down and turn into new things.

Hello, I make jewellery using beach finds, I have to buy beads and silver wire, and I can't find a green version of the thread I use to weave the beads with, I also use recycled bits of jewellery and vintage beads wherever I can.

Hi everyone

I'm still finding my way about on UK Handmade and have joined a few groups including this one. I thought I should start participating a bit more!
I'm a mixed media artist and I work predominantly with recycled/used materials to make my assemblage pieces and jewellery. I've just installed some work, made from old hanging baskets and video tape, outdoors for the first time in a contemporary art exhibition in a country park near Birmingham. If you'd like to see some pictures visit my blog here http://www.theartfulzebra.blogspot.com

great idea for a group! stained glass may not sound too eco friendly, but I make much of my stuff from waste glass which I buy off my glass merchant and leaded windows are far longer lasting than upvc, so I am on a mission to get everyone back to stained glass! :-)
I am also a mixed media artist working entirely in recycled stuff.
have a look at my website to see what I mean: http://www.amyorangeuice.co.uk

Thanks Natalie! You know, Your beautiful scarves where one of the first things I saw when I first started selling on Folksy! I love the colours and designs and how delicate they appear.

Ruby, thanks for your comments! I have some new ideas in the pipeline, so come back for another look soon! I am just a little busy with other things at the minute!

Uh, the group is gathering members, yay! :)

Cosy you have a great selection and beautiful website!
Mich your furoshiki make a great ecoo alternative to everyday wrapping paper!
Nic, we have crossed each other before (Folksy, Blogger, Facebook...the list goes on, hehe) but I am always amazed at how great you make recycled plastic look!

I have recently being working on some colour experimentations with natural dyes for future products, you can see more on my blog for Lissi

Thanks for the comments on my necklace. I make quite a lot of my jewellery from found and recycled materials.

I also use recycled packaging to send my items out, I try to reuse envelopes and I make my own boxes also.

Hello. Ruby, I was really interested to read your comments about packaging as my sister Olivia and I make furoshiki, fabric wrapping cloths, and reusable gift wrapping accessories.

Furoshiki themselves are eco-friendly as they are reusable and multipurpose - a great way to reduce waste wrapping paper and the use of plastic bags. It's easy to gift wrap things of almost any size or shape, make bags and home accessories just by folding and knotting.

Most of our furoshikis are made of cotton and we try to use all the scraps of fabric as described in this blog post http://myfuroshiki.blogspot.com/2009/11/best-waste.html. We've also just started making reusable greetings cards from recycled card (our cereal boxes etc) and small pieces of fabric http://myfuroshiki.blogspot.com/2010/04/new-creations.html.

Happy wrapping! Mich
