UK Handmade

Supporting and promoting the best UK artists, designers and makers

Hello everyone, I work in a Gallery and I really want to have some creative classes within our little space.. I have no idea where to start though.

I suppose it depends on the type of class, 'students' and cost.

Have any of you tried to set up classes before? How do you go about it, do you have any helpful tips?

Thanks! ^_^*

A lot depends on what kind of space you've got available? 'Art' usually involves water and messy things like that , maybe craft classes might work? You could even go with something more informal like a stitch& bitch group where people share their expertise. If you need to employ someone else to teach then pricing really starts with covering that cost first. I've run art workshops but not set up classes independently.

Hi Daisy Roo there's quite a useful article about running workshops/training course on pages 20-23 of the Summer 2011 issue of UK Handmade Magazine have a look :)
