UK Handmade

Supporting and promoting the best UK artists, designers and makers

In one of our earlier issues we did a feature on 'when we were young' and our memories of things our mums and grans' made for us when we were children. I thought we could do another one for the Christmas issue. So if you have any recollections of christmas when you were a child and the things you or your family made (plus the all important photos!) then please send them to me at info@ukhandmade.co.uk. Remember to include your website link as well!

I can remember what my mother made for me as a Christmas prescent when I was eleven. Its such a long time ago that I do not remember if there were any photos taken. I do remember that I couldn't think of anything that I wanted and so had no idea what I would be given. In those long off days we were not bombarded with adverts telling us what we could not live without. Anyway when I opened my parcel it was a beautiful red tartan dress with a plain red colour. It has a sash round the waist and a full skirt. I absolutely loved it.
that's wonderful, thanks Angel Eden, anyone else?
Your post made me remember the fabulous Jean Greenhowe knitted dolls that she made for my Daughter (Kate) just like this Lovey

thanks Lynn, what we need is a little a story of your childhood memory (about 50 words or so) and a photo of you at christmas, like the feature we did in our Spring issue page 40 http://content.yudu.com/Library/A168yq/UKHandmadeSpring2009/resourc...
My mum made me that same scarecrow! Same mouse on the hat and everything!
