UK Handmade

Supporting and promoting the best UK artists, designers and makers

Thanks to everyone who has joined so far, good so see some new faces!

For those who don't know me I am a artist and freelance illustrator from Cambridgeshire, I also make books and stationery and design websites (hence UK Handmade). With two young children in the house I am lucky to get any sleep but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Hi everyone!

I'm Gemma. I live in South Yorkshire (although am from South Wales originally) with my other half and our 2 1/2 year old daughter, the Moomin, as well as a cat, a guinea pig and a fish! :) I have crafted in various forms since being very young, and I remember being shouted at by my mum for "wasting sellotape and cutting up paper" in my attempt to make my own books!

I now flit between art (acrylics, oils and soft pastels mostly) and crafts (sewing, knitting, card making, scrapbooking etc). I have a fairly short attention span, much to the amusement of my long suffering yet supportive OH, and so never stick with one thing for long before I'm onto the next project! I am trying to be better, though!

You can read about my crafty exploits on my blog: Deravelled. Pop by and say hi!

I currently work part time for a bank (and pretty much hate it - it's so boring, and other people's money doesn't interest me as much as my own!!), but dream of one day leaving the 9 - 5 working life behind in order to start selling my crafts seriously. I am working towards opening my own shop on Folksy, and am really excited to think that I could finally be in a career where I am happy whilst still earning a bit of money! We'll see!! :)
Hi All,

My name is Robin, I live on a muddy hill in the Scottish Borders. I am new to the network & looking forward to getting to know the site, businesses & like minded people....

Clever Togs by Robin Li are a collection of fun & educational, hand-embroidered appliquéd organic t-shirts for babies & children, designed to stimulate the senses with exciting shapes, patterns and textures!

Eco-friendly and fair-trade!
All the t-shirts we use are 100% unbleached organic cotton! All t-shirts are ethically produced and made in the UK.
Clever Togs recycle fabric; as some fabrics are vintage and come from various sources.

A perfect designer piece, hand-crafted and designed in the UK, not mass produced via some sweat shop in the Far East!

Lovingly handcrafted in Scotland

Hi
I'm Karen and I knit and crochet bits and bobs which I would love to sell on! I have a shop on Folksy at the moment and am thinking of moving to Etsy as well. I have two young children, one of whom is severely autistic, so my crafting is therapy for me.

I live in Pinner, on the outskirts of London and dream of owning/working in a yarn shop.... My friend owns an online yarn store but I can't persuade her to take on a permanent retail location!

My shop site is: Made fo you, by Shamu
My blog is: Made for you, by Shamu

Hope to meet lots of people through here!

Hello! I make jewellery out of silver although hope to progree to other metals and mediums one day. I've got my eye on reson and copper, although not together. Although, having said that I can now imagine an interesting fusion!

I live in Kent, near Hythe, and am inspired by nature, shapes and textures.

I've got a shop on Folksy and a blog too. On both places my banner is a work in progress and will be improved!

Looking forward to meeting people here!
Hi...I'm Sarah and, as a newcomer, just wanted to say hi. I enjoy all things creative: knitting, sewing, beading, textile art, mixed media collage-so I'm very glad that I've found this site.

I've just started to explore digital art and photo manipulation centred around light sources, reflections and the effect light has on an environment. I want my images to both stand alone as digital art, but I would also really like to use them as the basis for my textile art, and embellish them in a variety of ways.

Any words of wisdom,or responses to my photos, will be very gratefully received :) Many thanks for making me feel so welcome.
Welcome everyone, it's so good to see our little community growing :D

If any of you have questions please to not hesitate to contact me directly or use the forum to post your question there.

Hi

Just joined today, so this is me saying a little "hello"

I am a jewellery designer/maker based in Gravesend. I started off about ten years back working from home, then I outgrew my bench and got a little workshop and now I have my own little shop / workshop.

I work largely to commission in platinum, gold (all colours and karats), palladium and silver.

I have several websites including Etsy, Folksy, Flickr but my two main landing pages are my blog and personal website

Hello!

I am a felt & crochet craftisan on the Kent/London border, and it's lovely to be here amongst so many familiar names from Folksy & Etsy... hope everyone has a prosperous 2009 despite the gloomy outlook, Handmade is definitely on the UP!
