Folksy is growing all the time, I would say though dont expect sales immediately from setting up your shop. It took me 5 months to make my first sale!

I both buy and sell over on Folksy and both experiences are good : )

Thanks Victoria - it's useful to know a timeline.

I set up a folksy shop and sold 1 thing on the first day - but nothing since.  I think that Folksy is not as easy to use as Etsy which has a really user-friendly approach.  Shame really, perhaps when Folksy goes through a few revisions it'll be good.

just had a look at your website/blog and your work is beautiful!

Thanks for the advice.

Hello Sandy, your Folksy shop looks lovely and the scottie dog brooch is absolutely gorgeous.  Have you tried selling on Etsy yet?  Also, have you started a blog (there are lots of free ones available) - it can take a little while to get going, but it's surprising just how quickly it gets known and when your images start appearing on google searches it will drive traffic to your jewellery sales.
I agree with Lyn, a lot of the time you need to build up a buzz about your work and just promoting. The important thing is to keep promoting as theres an awful lot of 'snowball effect' when friends tell friends about where they found the coolest thing!

Thanks ladies

Yes, I have just started a blog - with a paltry 3 followers :-(

http://sandymitchell.blogspot.com/

I have found it quite cathartic to 'scribble' every few days with ideas - it's almost like a notebook.

I've also linked my Twitter to Facebook - but would like to link twitter and Facebook to my blog and vice versa.  I managed it on my website - to download logos/buttons and set the links - but can't seem to work out how to do it with the blog.

Not sure about Etsy - it's american isn't it?

You've made me feel heaps better anyways - many thanks

Sandy

Hello Sandy - yes Etsy is mostly American but there are a lot of European participants and anyway jewellery is light enough to not cost too much to post to the United States.  I'm glad to see you've put your blogspot address in your reply above, get in the habit of attaching it to everything and putting it on your personal emails - paste it wherever you can!

Good luck from Lyn, www.rosiepink.typepad.co.uk

thanks Lynn - all has now been updated.  Can't believe I didn't think of that!!!!

Hi we find that Folksy does better for us than Etsy, but I have found on Folksy it helps to be involved in the forums which has a great community involved in it and people get to know you are there. It also provides great feedback and support in regards to the site.

Hope this helps
