Hi All,
Could anyone tell me the difference between Folksy and Etsy?
I started with Etsy and listed alot of my stock, but I don't know if Folksy is a better platform? I set up a folksy page, but dont want to go through the faf of setting that all up again if it's nt worth it.
I would love to eventually move away completely from both and sell purely through my website - but that is wishful thinking 'eh?
Thanks all, I have attached the links below incase anyone want's a gander :)

I got the impression that Folksy was more UK orientated, but I was not sure if that was an advantage or not?

Permalink Reply by Tracey howard on October 25, 2012 at 16:40 I started off with folksy and made quite a few sales...My Etsy shop took ages to get any traffic, but once it did..well its great.I had to drop my Etsy shop because I was making double sales. If you have product that is easily replicated..have both shops.Dawanda is pretty good too.It is Europe based.
Take care

Permalink Reply by Catherine Marche on October 31, 2012 at 9:51 etsy deals in USD, and now displays multi currency.
It can be difficult to be seen due to the sheer volume of items being sold there
Items are usually sorted by rekevancy
Folksy is in GBP, less items/sellers. Maybe getting sales are esaier.
A good thing to avoid double sales is to list different stock items on both.
good luck

Permalink Reply by Rachael on November 4, 2012 at 11:16 Thanks all!
I have decided to stick with my Etsy store. I still have 1 or 2 things on Folksy, but I think I will just let it run until they expire.
Alas, still no sales to date!! It's hard work, after finally plucking up the courage to actually sell the items I am making, that confidence is dropping off again.
Thanks all for your help!

Permalink Reply by Stephanie Pearce on November 9, 2012 at 10:22 I have both and have recently taken off all overseas shipping on my folksy store as I think it really is just UK based.
I would be interest to know if anyone has had an overseas sale on folksy.
Etsy, I love, and sell worldwide on it.
Sales on my website have all been to UK customers as well.
I have had my first two sales on WowThankYou in the last 10 days!

Permalink Reply by Thandie's Trinkets on November 12, 2012 at 23:13 I think the main difference from what I gather is that Folksy sells only items from UK makers - though people can buy from anywhere - I have sold items to the USA for example.
Etsy sellers can be from anywhere in the world - though from what I gather there are a lot of sellers/buyers in the USA, though lots from elsewhere too.
I think both can be successful do seem to be for people - I make sure I only list as many items as I can actually make so that in case someone orders the same item from Etsy, someone else from Folksy, and someone else from my website I can fulfill all the orders - this also means I have slightly different stock on different sites.
Worth trying both to see which (or hopefully both) works best for you.
