UK Handmade

Supporting and promoting the best UK artists, designers and makers

First of all, sorry for the short notice, things have been crazy here, but if you make anything cool and you want to show off then we need you!!

The event is Maker Faire, a celebration of all things hand-made, from traditional arts and crafts to science experiments, electronics, woodworking and more. It's a global event, but we (a group of local volunteers) ran the first south coast one last year and it was a huge success, with over 5,000 people coming to the Brighton Dome to get involved. This year is aiming to be twice as big! The event will be this September but we are accepting applications from makers to get involved now. The official deadline for makers to apply is today....but we can be flexible :)

So its not a standard craft/tech fair, its well .....sort of.... come and take a look http://www.makerfairebrighton.com/

At the moment we're on the hunt for people to participate in the 2012 event, and are hoping to reach out to all the weird and wonderful makers that might be tucked away creating things in their sheds, craft rooms and garages.

We want to expand the list of creations on display this year to include the more esoteric makers like bushcrafters (bodgers and whittlers), welders and anglegrinders, sculptors and engineers; food hackers (people who make giant jaffa cakes and the like!), origami experts, yarn bombers (aka guerilla knitters),wood artists, pottery wizards, ceramic lovers, recyclers, upcyclers and permaculturists; festival performers and set designers; space explorers model makers, Lego geeks and mad scientists.

Our deadline is the 20th of June (but will be flexible)  for people to show their interest in coming down and manning a stall, table or area. Some come to show off, others to have fun, and some to sell a few bits and pieces.

The event is organised by a small bunch of us from across Sussex, but open to people form across the country to get involved and we would love to hear from you. This is ran as a labour of love and is a not-for-profit event.

If you have any further questions at all please do not hesitate to ask. Feel free to ask below or send a message!!!

Be great to see you and your craft there!
