All Craft Media have gone into Administration

There have been numerous blog posts about All Craft Media, the publishers of several craft magazines: Handmade Living, Handmade Fashion, Sew Hip, Modern Quilting Magazine (to name but a few), going into Administration so just posting this as a heads up to any of our members who may be affected by this.

Some blog posts with people's experiences here:

What does going into administration mean?

When a company faces financial difficulties and is facing bankruptcy an official receiver, called the administrator, is called in = going into administration. Once this happens essentially all legal actions are put on hold (moratorium) which means there is a freeze on creditor's actions e.g. creditors are prevented from demanding their money back by putting the company into liquidation. Read more here.

What to do if you're affected?

The administrator's details are below and this is a useful blog post about what you need to do to be listed as a creditor: http://sewhappygeek.co.uk/index.php/2012/05/05/if-you-have-been-bur...

UPDATE

The following titles previously owned by ACM have been acquired by a company called Tailor Made Publishing: Inside Crochet, Yarnwise and Handmade Living.

Below is a statement from the director of Tailor Made Publishing:

"The recently acquired titles Inside Crochet, Yarnwise and Handmade Living will be published by Tailor Made Publishing from issues 31, 50 and 14 respectively. Sew Hip, Modern Quilting, Handmade Fashion and Simply Beautiful magazines are up for sale.

Previously published issues will not be available for sale from Tailor Made Publishing. Subscriptions to Inside Crochet, Yarnwise and Handmade Living will be honoured.

We are delighted to announce that Zoe Clements is to take on the position of Editor of Yarnwise magazine and Charlotte Brett will be Editor of Handmade Living magazine. The Editor of Inside Crochet will be announced within the next few days.

Tim Harris
Director - Tailor Made Publishing"

The remaining titles ownership remains unclear; it appears they have been purchased by a new company called Craft Magazine Shop: http://www.craftmagazineshop.co.uk/ - Modern Quilting, Sew Hip, Simply Beautiful, Handmade Fashion and Handmade Weddings. A quick whois search shows that craftmagazineshop is owned by ACM.

A section on the craftmagazineshop website about the team reads:

"Some of the team are brand new to publishing, others worked for the company who used to own these magazines and most of us are called Jen! You will be able to see all our staff profiles and pics here on our shop blog when we all start work in the office next week. We want all of our readers, subscribers, designers, contributors, staff and advertisers to love our magazines as much as we do. If you want to chat, please dont hesitate to get in touch. We love emails, and phone calls and are available Mon-Fri from 9-5."

oh that is such a shame :(

I always feel for the people left owing money in these situations as can have a knock on effect down a long chain and in this case probably small business people who can ill afford to lose money.

Many thanks for this very useful information - I am owed money by ACM, I hope I can recover it...

I hope you manage to get your money hon :(

Further update to this:

Craft Magazines Ltd who purchased the Titles Simply Sewing (formerly Sewhip), Modern Quilting and Simply Beautiful have announced that they ceased Trading on 10 December 2012. It looks unlikely that anyone who had a subscription to these magazines will get any further copies.

Craft Magazines Ltd is owned by Richard Rycroft who is Kerrie Allman's father. Kerrie was the owner of the previous 2 companies KAL Media Ltd and All Craft Media Ltd, both companies having being put into Liquidation/Administration owing several hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Further details can be found by checking out the blogs mentioned in previous posts.
